Some or more patients also have to cope with the attitude of their environment, either at work or in society in general. This attitude is usually captured through random glances of sadness or despair, often also seen on the faces of their loved ones, and may extend to even social exclusion. Think of a mother who loses her hair, eyelashes and eyebrows and must confront her children, the high potential businessman who suddenly shows weak, haggard, pallid, the young student who felt that she can rule the world and all of a sudden, she is faced with daily hardships and challenges that, prior to the disease, never bothered or preoccupied her.
The Non-Profit Association Supporting People with Cancer and Chronic Diseases “I LIVE FOR ME” aspires to be able to make a difference in the daily life and attitude of those patients suffering from cancer and chronic diseases, by providing them with practical advice and tips on how to overcome challenges imposed by the disease in terms of the way they look and feel.
The name of the organisation “I LIVE FOR ME” should not be interpreted as an attitude of selfishness and indifference to others, but as a critical condition of survival. Our goal is to convey the message that, in difficult moments or experiences, the patients have to consider taking care of themselves as an absolute priority, in order to overcome the disease and return to their family and life feeling strong, healthy, self-confident.
Our logo depicts a butterfly. The butterfly is a symbol of progress and change. Its evolutionary path indicates the birth of a new reality.
